The course provides a review of important Hawaii residential landlord-tenant issues and an update on related laws as of 2019.

Property managers of residential units must deal with the Landlord-Tenant Code on a daily
basis. Even licensees who are not property managers will likely need to deal with Landlord-Tenant issues during the listing and/or sale of real property. For example, the seller may have a tenant residing in the property to be listed and/or the owner may ask the licensee to manage a property to be listed at a later date.

Upon completion of this course, the licensee should have and/or will have knowledge of a number of important relevant landlord-tenant rights, duties, and issues. We will review key provisions of the Hawaii’s Residential Landlord-Tenant Code and related legal issues, be aware of recent legal changes, gain a general understanding Hawaii’s eviction process, and learn tips to possibly avoid evictions.

In the wake of the tragic events that rocked a quiet Diamond Head community on Hibiscus Drive, which stemmed from an eviction of a tenant, it is more important than ever to learn the proper steps to conduct a lawful eviction and strategies on how to avoid an eviction where possible.
